10 July 1959: Charles Von Büren registers the “Squale” trademark! However, the history of Squale originates even earlier when Charles was a diver & diving watch manufacturer for other Swiss brands.
In 1950 Charles and Helene Von Buren establish the Von Büren SA watch factory in Neuchâtel, Switzerland. Inspired by their personal passion for diving and water sports, their focus immediately turns to sub-aquatic watches - an unexplored field at the time. Fast forward 10 years & The production of cases for other brands begins, still recognisable today by the iconic “shark” featured at 6 o’clock on the dial or on the case back.
A long list of records and accolades to the Squale name including depth records and official supplier to the Italian Police Divers unit & partner with Drass Galeazzi, the leader in under water technologies.
