Introducing Vigneron Veritas

Introducing Vigneron Veritas: Our Hong Kong Wine Partner

There is a particular pleasure in discovering something made with conviction. A watch with an unmistakable design language. A movement that reveals the hand of its maker. A wine that makes you curious about the vineyard behind it.

That spirit of discovery is at the heart of our partnership with Vigneron Veritas, our Hong Kong wine partner. Its focus on independent European growers brings a natural connection to our appreciation of independent watchmaking: an interest in the people, places and decisions that give a creation its character.

Vigneron Veritas expresses its philosophy in five words: “Drink the Soil, Not the Label.” Its approach centres on growers and the individuality of their wines, inviting customers to explore beyond familiar names.

A Closer Connection to the Maker

Vigneron Veritas describes a sourcing approach that bypasses the traditional négociant system, spending time in vineyards across Burgundy, the Rhône and Champagne to seek out independent producers. The emphasis is on discovering wines through the people who make them and the land they work.

For watch enthusiasts, that interest in the maker will feel familiar. Learning why a watchmaker chose a particular construction or finish can change how we see a watch. Wine offers a similar opportunity: understanding the grower’s choices gives us another way to appreciate what is in the glass.

Neither experience requires encyclopaedic knowledge. Curiosity is a perfectly good starting point.

Stories Worth Discovering

One example in the Vigneron Veritas selection is Château de Bois-Brinçon’s Anjou, Les Saules de Montbenault 2018, a Chenin Blanc from the Loire Valley.

According to its producer profile, the estate’s history stretches back to 1219. Xavier and Géraldine Cailleau revived winemaking there in 1991, and the estate subsequently moved to organic and then biodynamic farming. The wine comes from a small, 0.8-hectare parcel on the Montbenault hill.

Details like these give a bottle context. They encourage us to slow down, pay attention and consider how a place and its custodians shape what we taste.

That is part of the enjoyment of collecting, too. An object becomes more meaningful as we understand its origins.

Bringing Discovery Home

Vigneron Veritas combines its grower-focused approach with online shopping and home delivery in Hong Kong, making its selection accessible beyond a restaurant wine list or a specialist tasting.

For us, the appeal of this partnership lies in that invitation to explore. Watches and wine both create opportunities for conversation: sharing a discovery, comparing impressions and finding that someone else notices something we have overlooked.

We are pleased to introduce Vigneron Veritas to our community and encourage you to discover the growers and wines behind its collection. Whether you already have a well-developed palate or simply enjoy opening something unfamiliar over dinner, there is pleasure in following your curiosity.
